Whitby West Cliff Beach
Whitby West Cliff Beach, otherwise known as Whitby Beach, is a gorgeous stretch of sandy beach with colourful beach huts close to the centre of town in North Yorkshire. It is the main beach in Whitby that stretches for two miles.
Whitby West Cliff Beach
The beach is next to North Cliff and it is easier to visit using the cliff lift. This is an internal lift down through the cliff. The parking for the beach is at the top of the cliff and there is none down at the beach so if you want to save your legs then we can highly recommend that you take the lift down.
You can walk around the headland from the harbour area at low tide but do be warned that there is no access around when the tide is in. It’s a really lovely stretch of sand and there are public toilets including accessible toilets plus somewhere to purchase drinks and snacks.
You can even hire out beach equipment in the warmer months. Lifeguards patrol the beach from June until September. At the top of the cliff, there is crazy golf and a few other things to do.
