Middleton Railway and Park

Middleton Railway is located close to the centre of Leeds in West Yorkshire. Trains run every Saturday, Sunday and bank holiday from Spring until later in the year. They also run on Wednesdays during the holidays. Middleton Park is open all year round and is one of just two stations on the Middleton railway.

Things to do at Middleton Railway and Park

Middleton Railway is called a pleasure train as its only purpose now is to take passengers in and out of Middleton Park. They also run a few special events throughout the year, including Santa trains. At the station for the railway, there is a small museum. This has one long gallery of train engines, some of which you can walk through.

The train ride takes around 10 minutes. Return tickets are valid all day. They have diesel and steam engines. The main park once at Middleton is a relatively steep walk up a long slope. Once at the top, there is a pretty lake with a cafe. There is also a playground with play equipment for younger and older kids.

Middleton Park is around 470 acres in size with a large playground, a fishing lake, sports courts, picnic areas and miles of woodland walking trails. There’s a visitor centre with a café, toilets and regular family activities, plus a rose garden, formal flower beds and open parkland for games.

The park is free to visit. Railway costs: adults £9 each, £4 for children aged 5-15. Children aged under 5 are free.
