Hartlebury Castle
Hartlebury Castle in Hartlebury, near Kidderminster in Worcestershire, is a Grade I listed building that was built in the mid-13th century as a fortified manor house. From the early 13th century until 2007 is was the residence of the Bishop of Worcester.
What is there to do at Hartlebury Castle?
The Worcestershire County Museum is housed in the servants’ quarters of the castle. The exhibits focus on local history and include toys, archaeology, costumes and crafts. There is a period room with a schoolroom, nursery, scullery and Victorian, Georgian and Civil War rooms. In the Bishops Palace, you can marvel at the grand staterooms and the unique Hurd Library. There is a free, audio guide that also includes a child-friendly tour option.
Within the castle grounds, there is a cider mill and a Transport gallery with vehicles including a fire engine, cab, bicycles, carts and gypsey caravans. They also host a number of family-friendly events, at the castle. You can take a stroll around the historic moat and follow the castle’s nature trail.

A whole admission site ticket for an adult costs £10, children 5-16 £5.75. Under 5s are free. Other pricing options are available.
