Oakham Treasures

Oakham Treasures is one of the largest privately-owned museums of retail and farming history in the country. Located near Portbury in Somerset it was opened to the public in 2008 and has since become an award-winning visitor attraction that takes you on an uplifting trip down memory lane.

What is there to see at Oakham Treasures?

There is a fascinating and unique collection of memorabilia from the last century with something for everybody with a number of different themed areas. The Grocery store is the largest of the shops on display at the museum. It is stocked from floor to ceiling with original shop counters and weighing scales. You’ll be amazed at what you will recognise.

Their sweet shop smells of the wonderful aromas that are synonymous with sweet shops. There are rows and rows of sweets and chocolates. In the Hardware store, there is everything you would have needed for your home. It is an Aladdin’s cave of bits and bobs.

Haberdashery is one for the ladies, with a beautiful display of the more intimate apparel worn by ladies in the 30s, 40s and 50s. There is also an Off Licence and Tobacconist. Plus a chemist with lotions and potions. The final display room is the Tractor and Farm Museum. This houses 150 old and vintage tractors. There is also an impressive display of old farm engines and farm equipment.

An adult ticket costs £8, children 6-16 £5 and children aged under 6 are free. Family ticket £18.
