American Museum and Gardens
The American Museum and Gardens is set in a Georgian country manor and features some stunning gardens across 30 acres and a play area. The attraction is located in Claverton, Somerset, close to Bath.
What is there to do at the American Museum and Gardens?
The house is a 19th Grade 1 listed building. The museum has a variety of American collections with decorative, cultural objects and folk art. The museum shows the diverse and complex nature of American traditions. This is the only museum of Americana outside of the USA. It was founded to bring American history and cultures to the British and Europe. They also host annual events, including music concerts, kid’s activities and Living History events.
The house and gardens are located in an area of outstanding natural beauty with spectacular views of Limpley Stoke Valley and the River Avon. There are remnants of the old Italianate style pleasure gardens and parkland which date back to the 1820s. This includes period features such as the grotto, the balustrade, ornamental stonework and curtain walling. Within the grounds, there is also an Arboretum and a Lewis and Clark trail.
Especially for families, there is the Children’s garden. This is a magical space where children can engage with the natural world. The play area is a magical space where children can play explore. There is some excellent and bespoke timber play equipment with play towers, nets and ladders. Plus a fun long slide down an embankment.

There is a cafe serving hot and cold drinks food and drinks. You are welcome to bring a picnic.

An adult standard ticket costs £13, children 5-17 £7 and children aged under 5 are free. Family tickets and cheaper garden-only tickets are available.
