Groombridge Place Enchanted Forest

Groombridge Place Enchanted Forest

Groombridge Place Enchanted Forest is a country estate on the border between East Sussex and Kent. It has a 17th-century moated manor house, formal gardens, 200 acres of parkland and an enchanted forest. It is a great place for a day out with pretty tree-lined forest paths. Along the way, you will find water pools, giant tree swings, a secret garden, a rose garden an oriental garden and more. Make sure you find the giant chess set.

In 1994 an enchanted forest was created and new features continue to be added. Crusoe’s World features pirate ships with gangplanks, rope ladders and bridges plus vast climbing frames. The play area was inspired by the TV series Crusoe and some of the original props from the show were transported and reconstructed at Groombridge Place. There are two treehouses linked together with rope bridges. There is also a slide, lookout tower, bell to ring, ship wheel and more. Also In the Enchanted Forest see if you can find the hidden woodland characters. There is also a tree canopy walkway.

Twice a day there is a bird of prey display by the UK Owl and Raptor Centre. They also have special experience days that you can book. Also within the grounds, you will find a maze and family-size swings. You may even be lucky enough to spot some of their deer in the deer park. There are also some resident animals, including peacocks, shetland pony and their famous Zedonk (half donkey, half zebra). You can even go on a short canal boat trip along the River Grom.
