The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway also known as the GWSR is a volunteer-operated heritage railway offering a scenic train ride of over 24 miles.

Things to do at Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway

The railway uses part of the route of the former Great Western railway’s mainline from Birmingham to Cheltenham. It now operates steam and heritage diesel trains between Cheltenham Racecourse and Broadway. The train ride gives you the opportunity to see some spectacular Cotswold scenery.

Broadway station is the railway’s newest station and it is their northern terminus. There is no car park but there is a modern toilet block. The nearby village is a 15-minute walk away or there is sometimes a minibus shuttle. At Toddington, you can ride on the North Gloucestershire narrow-gauge railway (£5 adults, £2 children. There are toilets, a cafe and car park. You can see more locomotives in their yard.

Hayles Abbey Halt is a request stop. There are no toilets or parking but it’s a good stop if you want to go walking, Winchcombe station has parking, toilets, a cafe and lots to see. There is a Discovery coach where you can see a model layout of the station and learn more about its history. Plus a model railway.

Gotherington is a request stop from the front of the train. There are no facilities. The final station to mention is Cheltenham Racecourse. It is the southern terminus of their line. There are toilets and a car park. The railway runs family-friendly events.

There is a cafe at Toddington and Winchcombe stations. Some of the stations have picnic areas.

Adults are £18 each, children 5-15 £8 and children aged under 5 are free. Other experiences are available at higher prices.
