Museum Overview

The Shipwreck Treasure Museum is a relatively small museum which is packed full of display items in the historic port of Charlestown. This is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Shipwreck Museum covers the history of Charlestown as a busy fishing port and there is even the opportunity to go through some underground tunnels.

There are over 8,000 finds from over a hundred shipwrecks within the museum. You can see the only intact barrel of coins ever recovered from a wreck, feel the weight of a cannonball and imagine the devastation caused by a battle at sea.

Down in the historic tunnels, you can discover where China clay comes from in an immersive underground experience. You will see the sights and sounds of the clay trade and hear miners tell their stories.

An adult ticket is £6, children £3 and children aged under 5 are free.

Parking is in the main pay and display car park in Charlestown.
