Located in a church in the centre of York. It is part of the Jorvik group so why not purchase a combined ticket for here and the Jorvik Viking Centre?

A visit to Dig starts with a lesson on how to become a trainee excavator. Kids are given their own trowels and they then have four different areas to investigate and dig around. These are from the Roman, Viking, Medieval and Victorian eras. It’s the kid’s job to find what’s there and they won’t get messy as it’s synthetic soil that just brushes off.

You then get to sort different finds such as bone, shells, pottery and more. There’s a small exhibition to look around, a video and a play area with more hands-on learning experiences.

There is no cafe on-site.

Dig! is an indoor attraction for kids where they can learn how to be trainee excavators in different historical periods of time. There are toilets.

What are the ticket prices?

An adult ticket is £7 and children aged 5-16 are £6.50. A combined ticket with Jorvik is £15.50 for an adult, and £12 for a child. Other pricing options are available including family tickets.
Prices are subject to change and/or discounts online.

Is there parking?

There is no parking. There is parking nearby where charges apply. If visiting by car your easiest option would be to use their park and rides.
