Mottisfont National Trust

Mottisfont National Trust

Mottisfont National Trust is set in beautiful, picturesque grounds near Romsey, Hampshire. The beautiful grounds, riverside walks, house and art galleries are great places to spend your day whether that be for a leisurely stroll and picnic along the river or finding out about the historical house – there is lots to keep you busy at Mottisfont.

The beautiful house was built in the 18th century with a medieval style at its heart. This is worth a visit if it is open. Behind the house, you can walk through the rose gardens and you may even stop a vegetable or two growing (depending on the time of year). There are a couple of woodland river trails you can follow which take you far into the Mottisfont estate, look out for fish you may be surprised by how big they are! Also as you walk you may see some ducks walking behind you so be careful.

The National Trust oversees the estate they look after 1600 acres of woodland and tenanted farmland in the local area, including Stockbridge Down and Marsh, and Curbridge Nature Reserve. The Mottisfont wider estate is a wonderful place to explore, take a relaxing walk and take in the sights of Hampshire’s most glorious countryside. There’s also a natural play area for the kids including balancing beams and water play.

On-site you can roam at your own pace, let the kids run off some steam on the lawns or even check out the amazing events which are held throughout the summer and seasonal months. In the winter you may even spot some Christmas trees decorated.
