Dreamland Margate

Dreamland Margate

Located by the seafront in Margate, Dreamland claims to be the oldest surviving amusement park in the UK. As you walk through the park, the retro seaside vibe is everywhere, and there’s no shortage of Instagram-worthy photo opportunities.

Things to do at Dreamland Margate

Dreamland is much more than just a vintage-themed backdrop for some great family photos. They offer a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities for all ages. You can easily spend 4+ hours here. The highlight of a visit is the Scenic Railway which is in fact, the UK’s oldest wooden rollercoaster.

Outdoor Activities: First and foremost, of course, are the theme park rides. There is a good range of rides with more traditional rides including dodgems and a waltzer, and most of the time there is a huge big wheel offering incredible panoramic views over the park and nearby beach.

Smaller thrill-seekers will be charmed by the carousel, car ride, and family-friendly coaster. In the busy summer season, you may even be fortunate enough to catch a free, musical performance in the central arena.

It’s also worth noting that Dreamland is over the road from Margate’s sandy beach, and entry to the park allows you to come and go all day – meaning that you can fit in a spot of paddling and build a few sandcastles as part of your day trip. Indoor Activities: If the weather is uncooperative, you can seek refuge indoors. There’s a huge traditional seaside arcade, complete with coin pusher machines that will keep kids occupied for as long as you’re prepared to keep supplying them with 2p coins.
