Black Park Country Park

Black Park Country Park

Black Park Country Park is a giant woodland full of pine trees – black pine which gives the park its name and explains the name of the nearby Pinewood Studios. It is great for going for long walks, and it’s absolutely beautiful by the lake. It’s sometimes muddy so bring your wellies depending on the weather.

What is there to do at Black Park?

There are usually lots of dog-walkers, and lots of adventurers as Go Ape is situated here. With young children, the best walk is from the car park entrance nearest the front and then around the lake where there are ducks and sometimes swans. Cafe San Remo is on the other side of the lake, perfect for stopping for a hot drink or even lunch as they do hot food. Loos and baby change are here too.

Next to the cafe is the Emma Sallis Adventure Playground which is brilliant, a playground in the trees. It feels so enchanted, such a world away from the usual playgrounds. The equipment is all wooden themed so that they blend in with nature. One side is toddler-friendly and the other side is more suitable for primary, school-age children.

Lots of community activities take place regularly at Black Park, like ParkRun at the weekends and Tots Go Wild on Fridays, and there are seasonal, trails too. What’s great about Black Park is that it’s open all year round.
