SEA LIFE Scarborough

The Sea Life Sanctuary in Scarborough is located on the far northern point by the sea. You can, on certain days, get the North Bay railway from North Beach to the aquarium. We spent just over two hours there and that was without going to one of their daily talks or feeding times. Someone has put a lot of thought into the place and made it not only interactive but with a few unique surprises.

They have a good range of tanks including native sharks and rays which you can look at from above or below. Plus some wonderful tanks of different kinds of jellyfish. Turtle rescue is fantastic. Kids collect a soft turtle to ‘borrow’ and nurse back to health. They have to take it to a series of stations to feed it, give it water, help mend where it is injured and more. You then ‘release’ your turtle back on the ‘beach’. This is a great recent addition. You can also walk amongst the penguins at Penguin Island. We were lucky to have a Humboldt penguin stand next to us on the path.

Other attractions include a small outdoor play area and an interactive rockpool where you can stroke sea urchins and sea anemones. There is an ocean tunnel where we found a Loggerhead turtle, some sharks and other fish. They also have a seal hospital where you can see a few of their rescued seals and listen to talks about their rescue and rehabilitation. You can also see otters, sea horses and plenty of tanks with different varieties of fish. For an additional cost to your entrance ticket, you can also enjoy a round of pirate adventure mini-golf. They also often have events, during the school holidays. Premium experiences are also available at an additional cost.

Is there food and drink available?

There is a cafe on-site selling hot and cold food and drinks. There is a limited number of tables and chairs in here.

What are the main things to do?

A great range of fish tanks, penguins that you can walk amongst, a small tunnel, a small outdoor play area, turtle rescue with soft toy turtles, interactive rockpools, seal hospital. Pirate adventure mini-golf (additional cost). There are toilets on-site and a cafe.

What are the ticket prices?

Online prices are from £9.90 although on the day prices start from £16.50 so booking online in advance is essential.
Prices are subject to change and/or discounts online.

Is there parking?

The car park is free out of season and pay and display in season.

When are they open?
