For a stylish and contemporary hotel, why not take a look at the Apollonion Asterias Resort and Spa in Kefalonia? Located close to the sandy Xi beach the hotel is set in the countryside outside of Luxouri. You can drive to the town centre of Lixouri in around 10 minutes. In mid and high season there is a local bus service into the town.
Life in the town revolves around the main square where you will find shops, bars and pavement cafes. There are sights dotted around like the lighthouse and museum but the star is certainly the beaches. The inside of the hotel has been decorated with the owner’s art collection.
Transfer time to the hotel is approximately 2 hours as it includes a ferry crossing when you book through TUI. It is possible to take a transfer around by road and the road route takes an hour. The ferry crossing is 25 minutes with 15-minute transfers on each side. Ferries run daily from May to October and are every 30 minutes in high season. Guests need to transfer their luggage from the coach to the Lixouri ferry and it is only included in the price of your holiday if you are booking a package.

At the hotel, there are two lagoon-sized pools. The infinity pool covers 955m2 and has a pool bar close by for drinks. Located in the Apollonion Complex is a kid’s splash park. Families will love visiting the red sand beach nearby and the sea benefits from shallow waters plus there is a choice of watersports.

Your Board Basis
You can book either a half-board package or all-inclusive. The all-inclusive package includes a buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. Guests staying for a minimum of 7 nights can dine once per week at one of the a la carte restaurants. Also included are snacks at set times, local alcoholic drinks, selected international spirits, soft drinks and some hot drinks. As well as the buffet restaurant there is also a Greek and an Italian restaurant. The Italian has a lovely rooftop location and it is a great spot to enjoy the views at sunset.
Additional Activities
Located in the spacious grounds there is a tennis court and a games room. Open three days a week there is a modern art gallery which showcases sculptures and paintings. Other facilities include table tennis, billiards and an outdoor playground. Indoors there is a playground at the Apollonion Complex. Also on-site there is the Apollonion Spa and Health Centre. Here you can enjoy a number of luxury treatments or soak in the jacuzzi or steam bath. Adults can also book a session in the gym. There is free Wi-Fi, a gift shop, room service and a 24-hour reception.
Entertainment
The hotel does not have a kid’s club. Evenings are pretty chilled with al fresco film nights in the outdoor cinema and the occasional Greek night. Plus there is sometimes live music.
