Holidays can be exciting, busy and full of new experiences, which is great, but not always easy for every child. That’s why TUI BLUE has introduced sensory rooms in selected hotels, creating quiet, calming spaces designed for guests who might find the usual holiday environment overwhelming. These rooms aren’t about gimmicks or big statements; they’re simply thoughtful spaces where families can take a breather when things get a bit too much.

What a Sensory Room Actually Offers

The idea is straightforward: a low‑stimulus room with soft lighting, gentle sounds and tactile features that help children (and adults) regulate and reset. For families with neurodivergent children, having somewhere like this on‑site can make a huge difference. It means you don’t have to retreat all the way back to your room or cut the day short. You can just step into a quieter space, take a moment, and carry on when everyone feels ready. Parents who’ve used them talk about the relief of having a dedicated spot where their child can decompress without judgment or pressure.

Where You’ll Find TUI’s Sensory Rooms

At the moment, there are a few TUI BLUE hotels that offer these sensory rooms:

Both hotels already lean towards family‑friendly stays, so the sensory rooms slot naturally into the wider setup. At Nausicaa Beach, the room sits alongside a relaxed coastal setting and plenty of family facilities. At Aura, the sensory space is designed with soft lights, textures and soothing sounds, a quiet contrast to the sunshine and activity outside.

Support Beyond the Sensory Room

The sensory rooms are only one part of a bigger effort. Across all TUI BLUE hotels with a Kids Club, there’s a clear push to make things easier for neurodivergent children and their families. Sensory bags are available to borrow, filled with items that help with focus, comfort or regulation. Ear defenders are on hand too, which can be a lifesaver during busy entertainment or louder moments around the resort.

TUI BLUE has also partnered with Sennies, a specialist childcare agency, to provide enhanced neurodiversity training for staff. This includes using visual supports and communication cards, small tools that can make a big difference when a child is trying to express how they feel or what they need. Each hotel also has Neurodiversity Champions, team members who’ve had extra training and act as a point of contact for families who want a bit more support or reassurance.

A More Comfortable Way to Travel

None of this is about creating a separate experience; it’s about making the existing one more accessible. The sensory rooms, the training, the tools: they’re all there to help families feel more at ease, more understood and more able to enjoy their holiday in their own way. It’s a simple idea, but one that can genuinely change how a family experiences time away together.
