Temple Newsam Activity Park
Located a short drive from the main Temple Newsam House, Home Farm and Play Barn, the Temple Newsam Golf and Activity Park offers a welcoming outdoor space designed for fresh air, movement and simple family fun. Set within its own area of the wider estate, this part of Temple Newsam brings together the long‑established golf course with brand‑new play and cycle facilities, creating a hub for visitors, families and the local community to enjoy.
The Adventure Play Area is one of the standout features. It’s an imaginative space designed to get children climbing, balancing, sliding and exploring. Built with natural materials and set against open views of the surrounding parkland, it offers a mix of challenging and creative equipment suitable for a wide range of ages.
Right next to the play area is the Learn‑to‑Ride Cycle Park, a dedicated zone created to help children build confidence on two wheels. With smooth paths, gentle turns and plenty of open space, it’s ideal for early riders practising balance bikes, stabilisers or those first independent pedals. The enclosed layout keeps the environment safe and calm, giving children the freedom to learn at their own pace. Best of all, it’s completely free to access, making it a brilliant drop‑in activity for families visiting the estate. They ask children not to bring electric scooters as this is a relaxed place for kids to learn.
The Temple Newsam Golf Course features a scenic 18‑hole layout made up of two 9‑hole courses, Lady Dorothy and Lord Irwin, set within beautiful historic parkland. Suitable for beginners and experienced golfers, the course offers a relaxed, friendly atmosphere with both annual season tickets and pay‑and‑play options available. The Members Clubhouse is open to everyone, and on‑site pay‑and‑display parking makes visiting easy.
Visitors can also relax at the on‑site café, serving drinks, light bites and children’s options, with indoor and outdoor seating, toilets, baby‑changing and dog‑friendly areas. Surrounded by Temple Newsam’s wider parkland, the Golf and Activity Park is a great base for walking, exploring and extending your day across the estate.
