Hoghton Tower

Hoghton Tower

Hoghton Tower is one of Britain’s most haunted houses and it is located in Hoghton, near Preston, Lancashire. You can discover more about the thousand-year history and natural beauty, the underground passages and the walled gardens.

Today’s tower was built in 1565 with previous structures dating back to 1109. Expert guides will take you on a tour of the tower where the same stone and timber floors have been trodden by the likes of King James I, Dickens and Shakespeare. Outside you can explore the various gardens including a Rose Gaden and the striking Ramparts garden. There is also the UK’s largest collection of vintage dolls’ houses. There are over 60 houses from the 19th and 20th centuries.

Families can enjoy spooky tours, seasonal trails, annual events and more. Kids will love exploring the secret passages and dungeons as you hear tales of the famous visitors Houghton Tower has hosted.
