Brockholes Nature Reserve
Brockholes Nature Reserve is located in Samlesbury near Preston, Lancashire. It is a woodland and wetland nature reserve and it is home to some rare bird species and a floating visitor village.
The reserve is around 250 acres in size and they are one of the best sites in the UK for seeing many different species of birds. The wood has one of the largest strips of ancient woodland in the country. There are several walking trails around the reserve where you can enjoy a walk by the River Ribble or enjoy one of the many lakes on the site.
There is a fantastic natural adventure play area for children of all ages. This includes a climbing forest and a zip wire. The Guild Wheel cycleway runs through the centre of the reserve which is great for families. They also run a number of annual events including workshops, craft activities, nature tot sessions, pram walks and more.
