Ventnor Botanic Garden

Ventnor Botanic Garden

Ventnor Botanic Garden is located in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. It was founded in 1970 by Sir Harold Hillier and its collection comprises worldwide temperate and subtropical trees and shrubs which are planted by region. It is considered to be Britain’s hottest garden due to its unique microclimate.

What is there to do at Ventnor Botanic Garden?

Lizards thrive in the gardens which are usually easy to spot as you are walking around. It is possible to get a little lost so they recommend you download their map to your phone to save paper and help you explore.

Around the gardens, there is a secret garden trail. This will help you find ten of their favourite hidden spaces. Kids can also take a children’s trail around with them which will help them to spot lots of different natural things in the garden. There is also a trail to help you find lots of different plants that would have been around at the same time as the dinosaurs.

In addition to the outdoor space, there is a large Tropical House where they grow some of the biggest specimens of Giant Amazonian Waterlillies in the world. There is also a children’s play area to find.
