Strathclyde Country Park

Strathclyde Country Park

The Strathclyde Country Park is located in Motherwell, Lanarkshire. It is an iconic park situated on the artificial Strathclyde Loch with 400 acres of countryside including nature trails, football pitches and watersports. It is one of the most popular family attractions in the central belt of Scotland.

The remains of Bothwellhaugh Roman Fort and a Roman bathhouse can be seen in the park and it is the site of one of Scotland’s theme parks, M&D’s. The site of the Battle of Bothwell Bridge in 1679 is to the northwest of the park.

Also in the park, there are outdoor adventure playgrounds, bicycle hire, a fitness gym, a cafe and some popular family fun boats. You can also walk around the loch which has a 3.5-mile loop. The park plays host to a number of events throughout the year including fireworks, regattas, fairs and more.

On the water, you can try out rowing, windsurfing, dinghy sailing, canoeing and water skiing. Crafts are available to hire or you can bring your own. They also have pedalos, bumper boats, boat trips, Wavebobs and Canadian canoes.
