Clare Castle Country Park
Clare Castle Country Park is located in Clare near Sudbury, Suffolk. It is a diverse park which was created around the ruins of Clare Castle which was once home to one of the wealthiest families in England. You can still see the ruins in the park.
What is there to do at Clare Castle Country Park?
The park also has a canal, an impressive view and lots of little walks. There are Victorian railway buildings and the castle ruins sit on top of a 60ft high motte that overlooks the town.
Also in the park, there are children’s play areas, trails, rivers and ponds so make sure you take some duck-friendly food. Walks range from 1 to 8.5 miles and there are also cycle routes. The refurbished playground within the park is situated in the outer bailey. There is also a fun play train stationed along the cattle dock between the cafe and the Old Goods shed.
For families, they have developed a number of different trails and routes. You can download these from their website. There are fun challenges with things to spot and more. They also host a number of annual events.
