Museum Overview

The Coffin Works is a unique museum about coffin making located at Newman Brothers in the Jewellery Quarter of Birmingham. They have tours and stories of the funerals of famous people in history. It is a heritage attraction located in a grade II* listed building.

Inside you can learn more about the Newman Brothers who were Birmingham’s last coffin-furniture manufactory who operated from these premises for over 100 years. The factory was left in 1988 with everything they used left behind.

You can explore the coffin works by yourselves or as part of a guided tour. Their award-winning tour guides will lead you around the factory and the tour takes around 1.15 hours and includes demonstrations of the Victorian machinery. Pre-booking is advised to avoid disappointment.

Guided tours cost £10 pp for standard admission. Self-guided entry costs £8.50 for a standard adult ticket, children aged 5-16 are £4.50, children aged under 5 are free and family tickets are available.

When are they open?
