Museum Overview

Blakesley Hall Museum is located in a grade II* listed Tudor building located in Yardley, West Midlands. It is one of the oldest buildings in Birmingham and it is a typical example of Tudor architecture.

The house was built over 430 years ago in 1590 by Richard Smalbroke who was a member of one of Birmingham’s leading merchant families. You can explore the house and see it furnished as it may have looked in the 17th century. It reflects the lifestyle of a wealthy family of the late Tudor and Stuart periods of English history.

You can also explore the house’s traditional herb garden, orchard and grounds. It is a peaceful haven for butterflies, birds and visitors. They also host a number of annual events.
