Pevensey Castle
Pevensey Castle is an English Heritage property located in Westham, Pevensey in Sussex. It is a medieval castle and a former 4th-century Roman ‘Saxon Shore’ Fort.
The castle was also the landing place of William the Conqueror’s army in 1066. It was later an emergency stronghold in WWII and you can still see the machine gun posts that were camouflaged into the castle walls.
There is an exhibition that tells stories of sieges and royal prisoners. Plus a recreated 1940s commander’s office and children can crack the Pevensey Castle Code. You can also visit the dungeon and explore the castle grounds. Audio tours are included in the price.

Free entry for members of English Heritage. If you book online in advance you can save money on your ticket. A peak adult ticket costs £8.60 without donation, children aged 5-17 are £5, under 5 are free and family tickets are available.

There is limited free, street parking near the castle. Plus a pay and display car park nearby.
