Lewes Castle and Museum
Lewes Castle and Museum are located in the town of Lewes, Sussex. It is a medieval castle that commands a position guarding the gap in the South Downs cut by the River Ouse.
Today you can climb to the top of the castle and enjoy stunning panoramic views. The castle was built after the Battle of Hastings in 1066 by supporters of William the Conqueror. You can also visit the adjoining Museum of Sussex Archaeology with artefacts from prehistoric to medieval Sussex.
