Oxford Botanic Garden

Oxford Botanic Garden

Oxford Botanic Garden is located in the University of Oxford and it is the oldest botanic garden in the UK and one of the oldest scientific gardens in the world. It was founded in 1621 and it is home to over 5,000 different types of plants from around the world.

There is a historic walled garden and seven display glasshouses which contain tropical rainforests, the world’s largest water lilies, desert cacti, alpine flora and carnivorous plants. There is also a ‘lower garden’ with a water garden, rock garden, orchard and more.

When you arrive make sure you enquire about their current trails as there is usually something for children to take around with them. Even younger children can take part in an eye spy trail. The gardens are a beautiful and compact green space to explore with the family.
