Faringdon Folly Tower

Faringdon Folly Tower and Woodland are located near the centre of Faringdon in Oxfordshire. The unique 100ft tower is an icon in the area and it is the last major folly to be built in England.

Sitting on Folly Hill the tower is located on 4 acres of woodland with some trees being more than 200 years old. From the top of the tower, you can enjoy wonderful views over 5 counties. During a visit to the tower, you will also be able to learn about the history of Folly Hill, Oliver Cromwell, the eccentric Lord Berners who created the tower and the writer of the song ‘Sing a Song of Sixpence’.

In the woodland, you can seek out the sculptures of the 24 blackbirds from the song, plus there is Cromwell’s cannon and other sculptures including a giraffe and a mouse. Plus a hare, mole, bat, buzzard, squirrel and more. There is even a troll keeping watch over the woodland.

Is there food and drink available?

There is no on-site cafe. You are welcome to picnic outdoors.

What are the main things to do?

100-foot tall folly tower which you can walk to the top of plus woodland with a number of wooden sculptures to find. There are no on-site facilities.

What are the ticket prices?

Adults £3, 11-16-year-olds £1 and under 11s are free.

Is there parking?

You can park in Faringdon (2 hours free, ) and walk for about 10 minutes. On Stanford Road, look for the high pavement on the left.

When are they open?

The Folly Tower is open on the 1st and 3rd Sundays from April to October. For up-to-date opening hours and dates please visit their website.
