Rutland Water Nature Reserve

Rutland Water Nature Reserve is located near Oakham. It is a vast protected wetland area with lagoons and islands. Rutland Water itself is home to the fun Rutland Aqua Park.
The reserve is one of the best places to enjoy birds and wildlife in the UK. They have breeding ospreys and 35 birdwatching hides where you can quietly observe the birds. Winter is the reserve’s busiest time where there are around 25,000 wildfowl.
Covering a total area of 1,000 acres there are nature trails around some of the reserve and two visitor centres. The ospreys that visit the reserve are of great importance as they are the first Ospreys to breed in England for over 150 years. Also available are Rutland Water’s Osprey and wildlife cruises. These boat trips are perfect for anyone wanting to see these birds and others in their natural habitat.
