Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre

Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre

The Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre is a nature reserve located in Low Hauxley, Northumberland. It is one of the best wildlife-watching spots in the North East and it is a great place for birds and butterflies.

What is there to do at Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre?

Located right next to the beach there are some fantastic views across the length of Druridge Bay. There are good paths around the reserve that lead to all hides and there is a circular walk around the site. The main route is 1km with two accessible hides and there are more hides around the site.

The reserve attracts a wide variety of birds from tree sparrows to reed bunting, bullfinches, boots, moorhens, curlews and more. Spring and autumn boost their bird sightings and there are usually around 140 bird species across each year.

Kids can take part in a rubbing disc trail. You can pick up a booklet and a crayon from The Lookout cafe for £1. There is also a natural play area which is great for children under the age of 10. They also run family events and activities during school holidays and some weekends.
