The Ark Open Farm

The Ark Open Farm is located near Newtownards, County Down. It is a fun family-friendly day out and they are the only open farm in Northern Ireland to stay open all year. There are over 200 animals with 2km of pathways and 40 acres to explore.

Things to do at The Ark Open Farm

There are plenty of animals you can meet including cattle, sheep, pigs, poultry, goats and donkeys. Plus alpacas, deer, ponies and more. You can meet some of their animals close up in their animal handling sessions which are led by the farm’s friendly team.

There is plenty of outdoor fun to be had including a jumping pillow, multi-play areas and tractor and quad rides. They have a Fairy-tale forest to explore and a Jurassic Ark dinosaur exhibition. Kids will love going inside the large wooden ark that they have.

Daily activities include their tractor-trailer rides which leave every 30 minutes to the Fairytale forest. There is animal handling every hour on peak days on a first come first served. They run quad barrel rides at quarter past and quarter to the house at a cost of £1 per barrel. They can even host your child’s birthday party.
