Gorse Hill City Farm

Gorse Hill City Farm is located in Leicester, Leicestershire. Back in 1985, the idea of a city farm was created by a group of 30 city residents who had taken on the management of the overgrown allotments that once stood on the site.

What is there to do at Gorse Hill City Farm?

They opened their doors in late 1990 after becoming a registered charity dedicated to providing an educational and recreational facility for visitors. The farm today now has over 100 animals, waiting to meet you.

Although they are a city farm they are lucky to have a fairly large plot of land. This has allowed them to have as many animals, as they do and most of them love to be fed. animals, you can see include sheep, pigs, goats, donkeys and ponies. Plus rabbits, ducks, chickens and more.

You can purchase a bag of animal food for £1 which will guarantee that you get close to some of their animals,. They also have ‘Meet the small animal’ sessions which you can take part in for an additional cost. They also became a Rare Breed Survival Trust in 2011. You can enjoy a walk around the wildlife garden and pond and there is also a children’s playground. They can even host your child’s birthday party.

Adults £4.50, children aged 2-16 £3, children aged under 2 are free, and family tickets are available.

Is there parking?

There is some parking available at the top of the road. Alternatively, you can get the number 74 bus from Charles Street, which will allow you to disembark right at the bottom of their drive.
