The Whitaker is a museum located in Rawtenstall, Lancashire. It is set in a park in the heart of the Rossendale Valley and they showcase various collections.

As well as visiting exhibitions they also have three permanent collections. There are natural history galleries with taxidermy animals and curious objects from around the world. From Orangutan to Platypus, Polar bears to elephants the museum has over 9,000 preserved specimens. Many of these are on display.

There is a social history collection which explores the transformation of the valley over time. Plus there is an art gallery with almost 190 oil paintings. They also have a Fantastical Field Notes, Map and trail which is a free family adventure around the park. Collect your free, map from their welcome desk and follow, listen and explore the magic in the park.
