East Lancashire Railway
The East Lancashire Railway is located in Bury, Greater Manchester. It is a 12.5-mile heritage railway which runs between Heywood and Rawtenstall in Lancashire. There are seven stations packed with things to do.
Heywood Train station is the most easterly point of the ELR and a great place to start your journey. Trains are mainly steam engines and you will enjoy different views along the way. Each station offers something unique from historical Heywood to scenic Summerseat, quaint villages and bustling Bury. There are walks to enjoy, museums, galleries, shopping and more.
They host a number of annual events including their popular 1940s weekend, Days Out with Thomas and award-winning Santa specials.

There are a number of choices for food and drinks. You are welcome to bring a picnic.

What are the ticket prices?
Prices vary according to the time of year, event days and if you want to travel on a return or single ticket. A regular return fare costs £18.50 per adult and £11 per child aged 3-17. Under 3s are free, and family tickets are available.

Is there parking?
Parking is available at all stations but is very limited in some places. You’ll need to pay to park in Bury.
