Woodchester Mansion
Woodchester Mansion is located near Nympsfield in Gloucestershire. It is an unfinished Gothic Revival mansion house located in Woodchester Park. The house was started in the mid-1850s and abandoned in 1870.
What is there to do at Woodchester Mansion?
The house is normally open to the public every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from the beginning of April until the end of October. There is a 3.4-mile unmade track to the Mansion through the woods and alongside pasture. If you don’t want to walk they run a minibus from the National Trust car park every hour on the hour from 11 am.
As it was abandoned mid-construction you can enjoy an insight into how buildings of the time were made. The house is hidden away in a beautiful Cotswold Valley and is also home to a colony of Greater and Lesser Horseshow bats which can be watched on CCTV. You can also explore the wider National Trust-owned parkland.
