The Blue Pool

The Blue Pool

The Blue Pool is a natural pool where minerals change the colour of the water from green to blue. It is located near Wareham in Dorset.

The nature reserve is part of the Furzebrook Estate which traces its history back nearly 400 years. On-site there is a tea room that was first opened in 1935. The reserve itself represents a fragile environment that has been recognised for its uniqueness. The colour of its water is caused by light diffracting from minuscule particles of clay suspended in its still depths. It is steeped in history and is a Site of Special Interest.

You can stretch your legs and explore the trees surrounding the pool. There is also a small children’s playground hidden amongst the trees. The estate is undergoing a gradual process of refurbishment with plans for the future.
