Lydford Gorge
Lydford Gorge is maintained by the National Trust. It is a woodland trail through a gorge with a 30m waterfall, kids’ play area and tea room located near Lydford in Devon.
What is there to do at Lydford Gorge?
It is the deepest river gorge in the southwest and there is a range of walks with different lengths for different abilities. The Devil’s Cauldron is the deepest part of the gorge and there is a viewing platform suspended over the river.
As well as the spectacular 30-metre-high cascade off the cliff face there are a series of smaller waterholes and potholes that were craved through the rock by the Victorians. The main shorter trail is 1 mile in length and descends into the steep-sided gorge before returning through oak woods that are abundant with wildlife. Sturdy footwear is essential.
