Museum Overview

The Highland Museum of Childhood is located in Strathpeffer in the Scottish Highlands. It is set in an old Victorian railway station and it has a unique and fascinating collection of artefacts relating to growing up in the Highlands of Scotland.

Inside you can discover what life was like for local children living in the area. It features an award-winning film plus a collection of toys, dolls and costumes with a huge range and selection to discover. There is a wide range of interactive displays and hands-on activities.

A new exhibition explores the life and work of Miss Mary Bruce who was a well-loved Highland teacher. She was an avid collector and the museum has a wide range of items from her own and her parent’s childhood as well as from her days as a teacher.
