Mirehouse and Gardens

Mirehouse and Gardens

Mirehouse and Gardens is a Cumbrian manor home with a park located near Keswick. It has strong literary and artistic connections. The ground floor of the house is open to the public. It is very cosy and there is a fun owl hunt for the younger ones and a history quiz for the slightly older ones. The Earl of Derby built the present house in 166 and it has only been sold once since then. Rooms you can see include the hall, dining room, and drawing room. library, school room and more.

Outdoors there is an adventure playground set amidst trees and shrubs. There is a forest hazard course for older children with some pretty challenging obstacles. Plus a Forest Castle where children can race with each other to see who can take the castle first. For younger children, there is Squirrel Island with a play house and swings.

Also within the grounds, there is a heather path maze and a bee garden. You can enjoy a variety of walks including a family nature trail, woodland walk and more.
