Brockhole on Windermere, The Lake District Visitor Centre, is located in Ecclerigg in Cumbria. It is an outdoor attraction with a range of attractions including mini-golf, zip lines, kayaking, archery and more.

Things to do at Brockhole on Windermere

Brockhole House and gardens are located on the site. The house is a beautiful lakeside Arts and Crafts villa set in extensive grounds. In the woodland, there is a Faerie trail that costs £3 per person and is open from around Easter time until September. Hidden amongst some of the largest and most ancient trees are over fifty faerie houses and doors.

You can hire a rowing boat from February until later in the year plus kayaks, paddleboards, open canoes and motor boats. Krazy Karts are pedal karts with electric assist and you can take on their new exciting gravel track, sessions last for 25 minutes. You can hire bikes and also try out one of their walking or cycling trails plus orienteering.

There is a 9-hole mini-golf course which is open all year. Kids will love their pedal tractors located over by the Kitchen garden, sessions cost £4 and are available to book on-site. Plus there is an adventure playground which is free and includes all sorts of equipment for tots to teens.

Also on-site there is a fun treetop nets area. There are more than 1,500 metres of giant trampolines, walkways, slides and tunnels made out of netting. All are suspended between trees up to 9 metres off the ground. Anyone can take part from the age of 3 and sessions last for up to 2 hours.

For the braver visitors, there is a Treetop Trek with 35 exciting treetop challenges including aerial obstacles like rope bridges and wobbly logs. Finishing with a 250-metre triple zip from the 14-metre high Treetop tower to the shoreline. There are a few options ranging from 30 mins to 2 hours from the age of 5 or 7.

There is a cafe serving food and drinks. You are welcome to bring a picnic, there is a covered area outdoors.

Brockhole is free to visit. Many of the activities have a charge – Fairy trail £3 pp. Kayaks £20, boats £25-40. Krazy Karts £13 pp. Mini golf £3 pp. Treetop nets £23 pp. Treetop trek £27-43 pp.

Dogs are welcome outdoors on a lead. There are some areas they can’t go such as the playground.
