The Black Watch Castle and Museum

The Black Watch Castle and Museum is located in Perth, Perthshire. It is a regiment museum and a former home. You can immerse yourselves in the extraordinary history of the Black Watch, Scotland’s oldest Highland Regiment.

From its formation in 1739, the Black Watch has played many pivotal roles in our military history. From its early years keeping watch over the highlands to the French Wars, Empire and the First and Second World Wars plus the most recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. A visit to the museum brings these moments to life.

In the museum, you can see uniforms, paintings, medals, photos, weapons and military equipment. The best way to see the museum is by booking one of their guided tours. Although, you can visit on a self-led tour. You can also explore Balhousie Castle which dates back to the 12th century. It is both the ancestral home of the Black Watch and the unique setting for the museum. It is set in beautiful gardens and grounds.
