Pollok Country Park
Pollok Country Park is Glasgow’s only country park and it is located between Shawlands, Crossmyloof and Pollok. It is 146 hectares in size and in 2008 it was named Britain’s Best Park. It features extensive woodlands and gardens.
The park was formerly part of the Old Pollok Estate and today is home to the world-famous Burrell collection. There are walled gardens, woodland walks and a wildlife garden. Plus there is an orienteering course, riverside walks and it’s a good place to see Highland cattle.
There is a lovely little play area with a slide, swings, climbing frame, trampoline and more. They also have some faeries living in their walled garden. The park also has a number of cycle paths.
Within Pollok Park, you will find Pollok House. This is run by the National Trust for Scotland and there is an entrance fee to visit. You can explore the house and the vast servants’ quarters. Entry prices are £8.50 for an adult and £6.00 for a child.
