Hippodrome Cinema Bo'ness
The Hippodrome Cinema is located in Bo’ness, near Falkirk, West Lothian. It is an early example of a purpose-built cinema and it is thought to be the oldest such building surviving in Scotland.
The cinema first opened in 1912 and it was designed by a local architect. Today it is designated a Category A listed building. Inside there is a circular auditorium, with a wrap-around gallery. It has been used for other purposes over the years but was reinstated as a cinema in the early 21st century. The restoration work has saved many original features. They show a diverse programme of blockbusters and independent cinema.
