Snaefell Mountain Railway
The Snaefell Mountain Railway is an electric mountain railway that joins the village of Laxey with the summit of Snaefell on the Isle of Man. The mountain is 2,036 feet above sea level and the railway also connects with the Manx Electric Railway in Laxey.
The line is 5.5 miles in length and operates between March and early November. Each one-way trip takes 30 minutes. Passengers are carried in five wooden-bodied electric railcars that were built in 1895. It is the only electric mountain railway in the UK.
You could start your journey on the Manx Electric Railway from Douglas or Ramsey to the pretty village of Laxey where you can then board the Mountain railway. This then winds its way up the island’s only mountain where you will be able to enjoy some breathtaking views. On clear days you may be able to see England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland plus of course the Isle of Man.

What are the ticket prices?
Prices vary according to where you take the train and if you want a return or a single ticket. If you want to travel from Laxey to the summit it costs £12.00 per adult for a return and £6.00 per child.
