German Occupation Museum
Museum Overview
The German Occupation Museum is a museum dedicated to the Nazi occupation of Guernsey in the Channel Islands during WWII. There is a recreated shop frontage depicting a street in St Peter Port between 1940 and 1945. There are many original artefacts on display which makes this a truly unique area of the museum. The museum was started by a schoolboy who collated spent bullets from the local fields and then as an adult opened, owned and operated the museum .
His parents allowed him to display his collection and bit-by-bt the purpose-built extensions to the small farming cottage were turned into the museum you can visit today. A further small extension was built in 2001 which houses a thought-provoking prison with information about the islands deportees and their tragic stories
