Powis Castle and Garden

Powis Castle and Gardens are a National Trust property located in Welshpool, Powys, Wales. The castle itself was built in medieval times and is now a grand country house. The present castle was built in the 13th century and it is now a Grade I listed building. It was constructed by a Welsh prince and is known today for its formal garden and for its rich interiors.

Inside the castle, you can explore a treasure trove of treasures. There are exceptional works of art including paintings, sculptures, furniture and textiles from Europe, India and East Asia. You will be able to look around a number of rooms. There is also a museum featuring more than 300 items from India and the Far East. It is the largest private collection of its type in the UK.

In the gardens, you can explore Italian terraces that have been blasted from the solid rock. The gardens are steeped in history and enjoy some superb views. The 14 metre high yews are particularly impressive. The site hosts a number of annual events, including outdoor cinema experiences.
