Rhyl Miniature Railway

Rhyl Miniature Railway is located in Rhyl, North Wales. It is now Britain’s oldest miniature line. The railway first opened in May 1911 and has been delighting visitors for over 100 years. They offer a nostalgic experience suitable for children of all ages. Their current steam trains were built in the 1920s and they have been hauling passengers around Marine Lake for decades. They even have an engine that was built in 1911 that is now in use again.
At Central Station, you can visit their museum and find out more about the railway’s history. There are hands-on exhibits to entertain younger children plus a shop. They are located close to the harbour and there are sand dunes that you can explore.
The trip around the lake is approximately 1 mile long and is in open or enclosed coaches. The train is hauled by a steam engine on peak days. You can even have a go at crabbing at the edge of the lake and there is a children’s play area next to their station designed for kids up to the age of 10.
