Porth Y Swnt

Porth Y Swnt

Porth Y Swnt is a National Trust visitor centre located in the heart of Aberdaron, North Wales. Its name means ‘Gateway to the Sound’ which refers to the stretch of water that separates Aberdaron from Ynys Enlli, Bardsey Island.

It is a relatively new, groundbreaking, interpretation centre that is situated on the tip of the Llyn Peninsula. The centre is simply designed and takes its inspiration from Aberdaron’s maritime past and architecture. It offers an introduction to the history and culture of Llyn through audio, videos, sculptures and artwork.

At the centre, you can immerse yourselves in The Deep which is an atmospheric under the sea experience. Get up close and personal with the farmer, the fisherman and the pilgrim with skillfully crafted wooden figures. Plus lots of other exhibitions including an installation where visitors can interact with an ever-changing well of light and sound.
