Abberton Reservoir Nature Discovery Park
The Abberton Reservoir Nature Discovery Park is located in Layer de la Haye near Colchester, Essex. It is a wetland site with international importance for wildfowl. The site sees up to 40,000 ducks, swans and geese visit each year.
You can enjoy excellent birdwatching opportunities and some great views across the reservoir. There are various walking trails around the reserve and the reservoir. Please call the centre when you arrive and ask for details.
There are bird hides and an outdoor play area for the children. Some of the trails are accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs. They also run a weekly toddler group which is available during term time. They can even host your child’s birthday party.
