Abbotsbury Swannery is located in Abbotsbury near Weymouth, Dorset. It is a sanctuary for 600 mute swans on the site of an 11th-century monastery.

It is the only place in the world where you are able to walk through the heart of a colony of nesting Mute Swans. The site is around 25 acres in size and the Swannery was first established by Benedictine Monks who built a monastery at Abbotsbury in the 1040s.

If your family is looking for unusual things to do in Dorset then visit the Swannery and help hand feed 600 swans at 12 noon and 4 pm daily. You can also get lost in the giant maze which is the largest willow maze in Dorset. There is a children’s play area. Please note that the swans are free-flying, there are no cages.
