Aberdeenshire Farming Museum

Aberdeenshire Farming Museum

Museum Overview

The Aberdeenshire Farming Museum is located in Old Deer near Peterhead in Aberdeenshire. The museum relives the story of Aberdeenshire’s colourful farming past in a unique semi-circular home farm stead building that was built around 1800.

Set across three main areas the museum covers the story of the Aden Estate, Horseman’s House and the Weel Wrocht Ground exhibit. It features permanent and temporary exhibitions and a working 1950s farm.

The area is rich in history with regard to farming and agricultural life. This is due to the northeast of Scotland having roughly one-quarter of the UK’s arable land. You can see what life was like for laird and labourer, horsemen, gardeners, gamekeepers and tenants on this large working estate.

The museum is located in the beautiful setting of Aden Country Park where you can extend your day out with woodland walks and a well-equipped play park.
